The Neptune Stands Neptune is depicted resting on a seat of coral and seashells together riding on a dolphin – with his shell decorated trident held in typicical pose. His consort Amphitrite, a nymph and ancient sea goddess, daughter of Nereus and Doris, is depicted holding a sea horn instrument and with shoulder drapery and a pearl choker necklace piece. She, too, is seated on a bed of coral and seashells together riding on a dolphin; each on a tripod dolphin and shell decorated base. 83 and 75 in. high (210.9 and 195.5cm)
